Past Projects – Training


We started our activities by raising awareness among health professionals and by beginning the process of basic training in palliative care in Sri Lanka. This was done by means of  a number of workshops and training courses:

  1. Communication skills for Oncology doctors and nurses island-wide, January 2011 at the At Apeksha hospital,  previously Cancer Institute Maharagam with Dr. Nagesh Simha & Dr. Gurmeet Randhawa from Bangalore, organized with the help of Dr. Kanishka Karunaratne, Director, National Cancer Institute.
  2. Pain Management – One day workshop for Oncology doctors at the National Cancer Institute, Maharagama, February 2011
  3. Communication skills workshop for Anaesthesiologists  – November 2011 – organized by the College of Anaesthesiologists (Dr. Rohini Ranwala, Consultant Anaesthetist)
